Come Fly With Me
As some of you guys might remember about 18 months ago leading into my first not only trip on a plane but also my first overseas trip, I asked for some tips and advise Re: Flying. As I had never done it before I didn't know if I'd be scared of it or not. Well as it turned out that Air New Zealand flight to Auckland from Sydney went very smoothly indeed and was made as good by the eye candy flight attendants. One in particular we're talking make up counter at David Jones material. In that instance I had gone with the category they call "The Works" which included in flight entertainment and a meal on board both ways.
Well this year as I have mentioned I had a trip up to Townsville for another footy trip holiday and also had an away game punt. Was different in a few way. This time I flew Virgin Australia and only went with the "Saver" option. The flight up there was via Brisbane and before hand didn't know what the go would be with my check in baggage, at the check in counter the lady told me all done it'll go straight to Townsville. Which made things easier for me.
First leg to Brisbane went well despite being 10 minutes behind schedual. I spent the time channel surfing through the Foxtel channels they had on-board. I find it amazing that they can get TV signal not only when you're 11kms in the air but also when you travelling at about 900kph.
I then had 4 hours of time to kill in Brisbane before the connecting flight to Townsville, so I didn't bother leaving the airport and had dinner in one of the bars (I try to avoid the usual suspects when it comes to food when I'm on holiday) and surfing the net on the laptop.
The flight back was a direct flight and didn't have as much time to kill after checking out of the hotel at 10am and the flight left 12:45pm. This flight though didn't have the TV screens which meant no in-flight entertainment so I had to wait for one of the flight attendants to come along with the trolly to double check with her that my mp3 Player was safe to use. Also whilst in the "Saver" category I didn't get a meal they at least had tea, coffee and water. I did have a celebrety moment on that flight. Tony Abbot was on the same flight as I was. I can honestly say too they didn't show him any preferential treatment when going through security.
So overall the flying with Sir Richard's organisation was a pleasant experience. Though I do have to pose the question. We keep hearing the idea of joining the mile high club, but I would love to know how you could have two people in the aeroplane brasco. They're smaller than a phone box. Not only that but how could more than one person go into one without arousing any unwanted attention from the cabbin crew.
