I think Tim was disabled physically (maybe missing a leg ???) and had severe depression and mental issues which all main staff at Langtrees knew about.

He used to book certain girls and just talk for 6 or 10 Hrs.

In the beginning he had money, it got dwindled away rapidly and they helped him do that, gladly.
